In the interior areas of Palghar district, there live tribes like Thakars, Mahadev koli, Katkaris etc who have for ages worked on bricks kilns, as forest and farm labourers and fishing. Understanding their need, PENS Sahayog Foundation started its own program called Saksham. Maitra now working with PENS for its Student Skill development program Saksham. Since the vision of both PENS and Maitra, is to spread education to the underprivileged and impart skills for improving their economic and social standing , the joint efforts will certainly ensure measurable results.
