The Audiometry room at  Mookbadhir Bal Vikas Kendra, a residential school at Dahanu Road run by the Thane District Women’s Awareness Committee under Shravan Maitra Project of Maitra Pariwar, Mumbai was recently renovated. The renovation was done with financial support from the DSV Charitable Foundation. The inauguration ceremony of this renovated room was held on 22 June 2024, Saturday. Members of Maitra Pariwar Trust, Mumbai and officials of DSV Company attended the event.

An important factor in the educational progress of hearing-impaired students is the hearing aid they use. It is an important project of Maitra to become Shravan Maitra to these students by regularly providing the batteries they need to use for these hearing aids. Maitra Pariwar has brought sound to the lives of these children by becoming their Shravan Maitra. These children could hear the sound from the batteries that are regularly supplied to them. Maitra is regularly providing these children with enough batteries to last a year.  Sadhana Vidyalaya, Pragati Vidyalaya, Ruchiram Thadani Vidyalaya in Mumbai and Bhave Primary, Bhave Secondary in Pune, V. R. Students of Ruia Vidyalaya, Morden High School have benefited from this scheme. The trust has also provided hearing aids under the Shravan maitra Project. Also, faulty hearing aids have been repaired.

Shravan Maitra is a unique scheme running with the help of extended families and friends of Maitra members. This year more than  1000 hearing -impaired children will get help under this project. For this project, DSV Charitable Foundation of DSV Global Logistics has provided substantial financial support to Maitra Pariwar Trust.

The next phase of the Shravan Maitra project was the renovation of the audiometry room at  Mookbadhir School in Dahanu. Since this room was closed for the past few years, the children here had to go to Mumbai for examination. Due to the renovation of this room, not only this school but all the hearing impaired in Dahanu Taluka will be benefitted. Charitable foundation of DSV logistics supported Maitra in this important project useful for the society. And this state-of-the-art room was set up in Dahanu due to this generous financial support. This work was done in the coordination with Shilpa Dalvi of Maitra Pariwar.

DSV’s Gurunath Aajgaonkar and Maitra Pariwar’s Sudhir Kalkar cut the ribbon and inaugurated the Audiometry room. DSV has also helped with the semi-circle sitting arrangement for the Nursery section of the school. Those classes were also visited by guests. The working of the Nursery section was also demonstrated in front of the guests. The program started with lamp lighting, Ishaswatan and welcome song. Mrs.Poonam Patil, speech therapist of the school, introduced the program. She highlighted the need for such an updated audiometry room in her introduction. She also expressed her gratitude for the invaluable help provided to the hearing impaired in Dahanu area by providing this facility.

Prakash Katalkar, secretary of Maitra Pariwar while conducting the program reminded the audience of the school prayer “Susangati Sada Ghado Sujan Vakyk Kani Pado” in the beginning and expressed pride in the  of Maitra Pariwar and DSV. He expressed satisfaction that due to the compatibility of these two institutions, Maitra is once again bringing voice in the lives of hearing-impaired children.

Gurunath Ajgaonkar, General Manager Finance and Accounts of  DSV Logistics appreciated the team of Maitra Pariwar for their valuable work. He thanked Maitra for giving DSV an opportunity to help this great social cause. Sarika Kamble, Senior Manager CSR, in her speech mentioned the integrity of the Maitra team and seeing the impact of Maitra’s Shravanmaitra project, DSV has extended its helping hand time to time. Speaking on the occasion, she assured that DSV Foundation will continue to work with Maitra in such projects. Aditya Kale – DSV HR Manager congratulated Maitra Pariwar and school trustees and teachers for excellent planning.

Santosh Dalvi, Chairman of Trust briefed about Maitra and its different projects. While aspiring best for the individual career and family , team members truly holding on to the friendship thread for doing something for the community through synergy. This is seen giving result and this will be continued forever.

Sudhir Kalkar, the pillar of Maitra Pariwar Trust mentioned DSV Chatitable foundation’s support to Maitra’s projects from time to time. Sudhir Kalkar expressed his satisfaction that the Maitra has truly earned the trust of DSV through its team work and successful implementation of the project. For these reasons, he also expressed the belief that DSV will always remain with Maitra Pariwar.

On this occasion hearing aid batteries were also distributed to 101 students of the school like every year. Prafullata Patil, secretary of Thane District Women’s Awareness Committee concluded the program and expressed thanks. Trustees of the institute Madhumati Raut, Pradeep Raut, Speech Therapist Poonam Patil and teaching staff were present on this occasion.

Members of Maitra Pariwar Trust Sharwari Apte, Nitin Samant, Shilpa Dalvi, Devendra Tari, Harsha Parab, Radha Mahabal, as well as Dr. Janhvi Sankhe, Samidha Samant, Prajakta Katalkar, Om Samant were also present. 

A dance performance by the students of the school took the program to an emotional high. The audience was mesmerized by the amazing dance performance of the hearing-impaired students. The program concluded with the satisfaction that we too could contribute a little to make the lives of these children easier.
