Shravan Maitra- A Dream Moment for Aarush

• • The team of Maitra Pariwar Trust walking with the motto “I will be with you always” was with deaf and mute students at Vikas Vidyalaya (School for Deaf Children) in Dadar on 28th April 2023. The occasion was ‘Hearing Aid Transfer’. Maitra Pariwar Trust handed over a special hearing aid to Arush Rajesh Sawant, a class V student of Vikas Vidyalaya.

• • Aarush Rajesh Sawant, a 12-year-old deaf boy from Dahisar, has 90-95% hearing loss. In medical terms this is called Bilateral Profound Sensorineural Hearing Loss. Audiologists told his parents and teachers that Aarush desperately needed a special hearing aid. Aarush is very witty and talkative. He has a good understanding of the language. Academic progress is excellent. Responds well overall. Aarush will benefit greatly from a hearing aid. They also suggested that his listening and speaking progress would be even better if he got a better hearing aid. But this special hearing aid costs around Rs 90,000/- and raising such a huge sum was beyond the reach of Arush’s parents. His siblings are studying. Mother is a housewife while father is employed in a private company.

After obtaining complete information about this subject from 2-3 audiologists, hearing aid dealer, principal of Arush’s school and audiologist of the school, on behalf of Maitra, an appeal to our well-wishers and donors was made and in just two days’ time we collected Ninety thousand (90,000/-) rupees for his hearing aid. Maitra Pariwar wishes to remain indebted to all of them as many such Arusha look up to Shravan Maitra with hope.
